On the main tower is the statue of Saint Bruno, founder of the Order in 1084. The surrounding wall, built under the priorate of Dom François Laurent (1634-1650), was intended to protect the monastery from any new devastation, after the disaster of the Wars of Religion.

The square tower is in the Renaissance style. The jambs of the arched entrance which are in decorative bosses, support Bruno's statue as well as the one of Saint John the Baptist, Bruno's spiritual father. Once a portcullis and fortified window on corbels completed the defense system.
