| The Grand Cloister
was finished in the 17th century. More than one century was necessary
for its construction. It forms a vast rectangle of 118m by 55m,
a perimeter of 346m. The Fathers'
cells open into this cloister. |
 |
| Next
to every cell door, you can still see the small hatch through which food was passed. EAch father had at his disposal 181m2,
comprising: the Ave Maria (where he recited
the AVe Maria every time he entered), a walkway, an oratory or office for
work and prayer, a garden, and a solarium. The Prior spent 20
hours a day in his cell praying, reading, writing, and meditating.
No one else could have access to it. |
