The facade of the Conventual
church, in the Baroque style, is dedicated to the Virgin
Mary. It dates from the end of the 16th century.
The nave of the church with its dry stone arch was constructed at
the end of the 18th century (1770-1780), during the priorate of Dom
François Baffier. It is the work of two "Companions" (master builders) from Pont-Saint-Esprit - Briat and Pépin - following the plans of the architect
Franque from Avignon. The elegance of its layout and its state of conservation
are remarkable.
A jube - a marquetry partition - separated the two parts of the Nave,
the brothers' choir and the fathers' choir. Fathers and brothers
met again at the main canonical hours, that is to say: matins, lauds
and vespers. They were sung entirely in Gregorian.
The 18th century stalls were the work of cabinetmakers from Lyon
and present a variety of plant motifs on the stalls panels, both
in relief, and in marquetry, of walnut, ebony, mahogany and boxtree.
Above the stalls, capitals were covered with melted sulfur.
The Baroque style altar is surmounted by a canopy supported by
spiral columns. It once sheltered a statue of the Virgin Mary, now
replaced by one of Saint John the Baptist.
The whole of the choir is in polychromatic marble.
